Health Professions Enrichment Program
HPEP introduces students to doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners, dentists, physician assistants, pharmacists, technicians, paramedics, medical students, human resources professionals and other medical support staff. Students learn facets of each career that may be attractive to them. They also get a chance to be paired with mentors who can help guide them through the process of applying for the education they need for their selected career. We give young people study advice they can use now, plus tips on coursework and programs that could give them an edge. We take students at the pre-college level (grades 11-12) on a tour of a working emergency department and other hospital areas, illustrating the day-to-day operations and experiences of those in medical occupations.
S.A.V.E. – POP is committed to reaching as many students as possible and helping them to reduce the amount of violence they encounter in their neighborhoods and at school. We are starting Students Against Violence Everywhere chapters across Northwest Indiana. S.A.V.E. is a national nonprofit organization created by students for students that promote the virtues of civility and respect by helping students of all ages learn how to care for other people.
Our goal is to initiate S.A.V.E. chapters in all elementary, Junior High and High Schools throughout Northwest Indiana and the Chicagoland area.
